Wow! I have to be honest....I had no idea who this was at first, but then I saw the email and put two and two together. Great to hear from you! It has indeed been a long time.
Yup, we occasionally come through AR. I think we've played Little Rock, Fayettville, and a couple other colleges and stuff a bit over the last few years. Doesn't look like this new tour is heading through though. It would be fun to see you and your family next time though! I'll keep you posted. karen would be jealous.
Tell everyone hello from us.
It's certainly meeting people where they are. The traditional target of an hour-long sermon can oftentimes become an idol, I think.
Very interesting...Sadly, I just received a flyer that a prominent Little Rock church just decided to have a 30-minute worship service. Per the flyer, it will be complete with a meaningful message, worship songs, and fellowship. I'd just like to know how they fit their church building into that microwave.
Tyler,
We are certainly good at making anything into an idol; and then we say-"...and I threw it into the fire, and out came this calf!" just like Aaron. I believe church is for believers. If a believers is "at" a place where they have no more than 30 minutes to hear the Word of God, and worship the Living God, then their "at" needs to change, not the methodology of the church. There is way more that could be said about sermon lengths, and how a preacher goes about figuring out how long to preach, etc. I personally think an hour is usually too short. Especially when so many of the congregation do not feed themselves the Word on a daily basis.
